expectations

  • Final Exams and Holiday schedules may change to accommodate student schedules.

  • All swimmers must attend every swim meet, regardless of eligibility to swim unless otherwise excused due to an illness.

  • Swimmers are expected to be on time to all practices and swim meets. On time means in the pool, with cap and goggles on, ready to begin when practice is scheduled to start. An excused absence from school due to illness will excuse you from practice. Arrangements for other absences must be made with Coach Tracy in advance.

  • Failure to attend practices or swim meets demonstrates a lack of commitment to your teammates and coaches and will not be tolerated. Please join the team only if you are able to commit to the entire season for both practices and meets.  80% Attendance is required at practices and meets in order to obtain a Varsity Letter and remain on the team.

  • Communication with the coaches is the responsibility of the swimmers (NOT PARENTS). We are here to foster positive attitudes toward athletics and team spirit. Please remember to communicate respectfully to both your coaches and your fellow teammates.

  • Academic Responsibility: Compete academically – give your best effort and attitude in each class, everyday. Focus your attention and effort, be accountable for your own work and work habits and be positive and enthusiastic.

  • Accountability: Take personal responsibility by working hard at practice and giving your best effort. Be accountable for your actions and conduct yourself in a manner that positively represents your team and school. Communicate in a positive way at all times with your coaches, teammates, opponents and officials.

  • Injuries: Report all injuries to the coaching staff before participating in practice or meets.

  • Teachable Spirit: Listen during practices, apply new skills, stay positive throughout practices and meets and be an encouraging teammate. Remember that any instruction given to you is meant to make you a better swimmer.

  • Integrity: Integrity is the foundation of character. Faith, honesty, reliability, respect, humility and loyalty are important behaviors for an athlete with integrity. An athlete's integrity is more important than their talent or achievements; an athlete without integrity has no place on our team.

  • Failure to follow team and student handbook guidelines will be dealt with on an individual basis by the coaching staff. It will be the discretion of the coaching staff as to what disciplinary action will be taken.
